Mr. Meister served as an investment banker for state and local governments, colleges and universities and corporations from 1979 to 2021. He started his career at Smith Barney Harris Upham & Co. as a healthcare and higher education banker and then moved to Goldman Sachs’ a few years later where he expanded his client coverage to include state and local governments, public power agencies, transportation authorities, and a wide range of other municipal, non-profit, and corporate clients. He was promoted to Managing Director at Goldman in 1996 and served as head of public finance for Goldman’s Western Region while also serving as a co-head of the firm’s public finance healthcare and higher education group. He left Goldman in 1999 to serve as Chairman and CEO of an internet-based bond trading platform and then joined Merrill Lynch as a Public Finance Managing Director in 2001. Rich retired from Bank of America Merrill Lynch in March of 2021.
During his career, Mr. Meister has served as the lead banker for several major healthcare systems and universities and has completed complex financings for stadiums, state insurance agencies, student loan authorities, and gas pre-pay sponsors. He is also experienced in P3 project financing and has completed numerous tobacco, unemployment, and student loan securitizations.
